Awarded First Place in the Gallery of Excellence at the Glass Craft Expo, this colorful Scarlet Macaw, meticulously designed and crafted by Jay Gubitz, has a 32" wingspan, is 29 inches from head to tail, and sits on a 53"-tall brass floor perch. He was created from 716 pieces of green, yellow, and blue iridized glass. A truly distinctive wall hanging in any location! |

A short-legged wading bird of Central and South America, the Sunbittern has a dazzling wing pattern. Created from 613 pieces of stained glass, it has a 29" wingspan, is 17" long, and stands on a natural oak-tree base. Adds exciting color wherever it stands! |

Inspired by Jay Gubitz's visit to the west coast of Florida, this graceful long-legged sculpture, with delicate tail feathers, stands 21 inches tall atop a redwood burl base. A magnificent 56" swept-back wingspan, red glass eyes, open beak, and metal talons give this Screaming Eagle an imposing appearance. It is made of 814 pieces of textured black glass, with the wings having five layers of "feathers." It is another award-winner in Glastar's competition, 3-D category. This little gem is only eleven inches long, but contains 214 pieces of glass. That means that many of the pieces are extremely small and must be carefully ground and precisely fit. Picture it sitting on a cocktail table in your favorite gathering room!

Stained-glass sculpture can't be duplicated - in the sense that paintings and photographs can be reprinted, or other types of sculptures can be re-cast - it must be re-created from the original carved forms and template drawings. The Golden Quail is a re-creation of the Gambel's Quail (previous picture). |

This "striking" sculpture stands 16 inches high, but the King Cobra would be five feet long if it could be uncoiled. It has slit eyes and a split tongue! King Cobra is made of 568 pieces of glass and weighs six pounds. Stand it on the corner table in the living room or reception area, and put river rocks around it. What a conversation piece! |
